Announcement of the Anarchist Political Organization in relation to the Internationalist – Antifascist protests in Thessaloniki and Athens
Call to the Inter-Balkan Internationalist demonstration in solidarity with LIBERTATIA squat in Thessaloniki
The revival of the “Macedonian question”, in the context of interstate competitions and NATO planning in the Balkan region, the Eastern Europe and the Middle East, has been a first-rate opportunity for the mobilization of the most conservative and reactionary social reflexes. In this context, all those who express this intolerant, racist and nationalistic frenzy, with the support of political parties, state and parastatal mechanisms, ecclesiastic, paramilitary and Nazi organizations, have called two nationalistic rallies in Thessaloniki and in Athens. This was just a glimpse of what is going to prevail, if totalitarianism, war and impoverishment that the state aspires to impose are consolidated in the social sphere, if nationalisms, fake divisions and cannibalism between the oppressed and the exploited are established.
Being aware of the devastating consequences that the prospect of war societies, poverty, impoverishment, the resurgence of nationalism and social fascistization, will have to humanity, and convinced that class and internationalist solidarity between the people, the organized counter-attack of the exploited classes and the overthrow of the world of state and capitalism in global scale can provide the terms for the creation of a society of equality, peace and justice, without exploitation, interstate wars and disorienting competitions, we chose to stand on the streets, in the internationalist-antifascist protests, on the 21st of January in Thessaloniki (during which a group of neo-nazis found the opportunity to attack unsuccessfully the squat “Free Social Space ‘School'” and to burn down the squat LIBERTATIA), and on the 4th of February in Athens (during which a similar group attacked the self-managed theater Embros and was pushed back by the comrades) and we intend to do the same wherever necessary. Together with thousand antifascists and people of the struggle, we have set barriers to the nationalist mob and the fascist reserves of the state, keeping the way of solidarity and struggle open, maintaining the flame of Social Revolution lit and the vision of Anarchy and Libertarian Communism alive.
We salute the thousands people who participated in the antifascist mobilizations all over Greece. We continue along the way of the struggle, wherever the nationalist bloc attempts to rise its head and the fascist gutter that accompanies it. We send a message of internationalist solidarity to our comrades in the Balkans and internationally. Only the enforcement of our common struggles can wipe out the fascist threat.
We participate in the Inter-Balkan Internationalist Demonstration of Solidarity with the squat Libertatia which will take place on Saturday, March 10th, in Thessaloniki, at Kamara, 12 noon.
