SOLIDARITY WITH THE 11 TURKISH AND KURDISH MILITANTS IMPRISONED BY THE GREEK STATE
On April 3rd, the 28 years-old militant Helin Bölek, member of Grup Yorum, lost her life, while she was in the 288th day of her hunger strike, struggling against the fascist state of Turkey, fighting for the band’s demands, to lift the ban against their concerts, to stop the attacks against the cultural center Idil, to remove the members of Grup Yorum from the blacklist of the Turkish counter-terrorist services, to cease the persecutions against them and to release their members who are held in prison. Helin Bölek ‘s struggle for justice and freedom, is given also by Ibrahim Göckçek, who has been in hunger strike for over 320 days. We stand in solidarity with the struggle and the just demands of Grup Yorum, till the music of the people of the struggle, the strikers, the demonstrators will not be persecuted, until the songs on the struggles of the repressed can be sung freely.
On March 19th, the counter-terrorist unit and the national intelligence service made a coordinated raid in the offices of the Solidarity Committee for the Political Prisoners in Turkey and Kurdistan, the Popular Front of Turkey and the Anti-Imperialist Front, in Exarcheia, as well as in the houses of Turkish and Kurdish militants in Sepolia. Armed police and antiterrorist forces arrested 26 people, 11 of whom have been charged for forming and participating in a terrorist organization, according to the law 187A, possession of weapons and other minor offences. After being tortured, the eleven arrested were sent to different prisons across the country, making their communication with their lawyers impossible. This operation is another contribution of the Greek state to the Turkish repressive mechanisms’ aim to silence, persecute, imprison and exterminate the militants and to repress the struggles given in Turkey. It is just another repressive operation against the Turkish and Kurdish militants among many other before that, revealing that the cooperation between the secret services of the two states is a priority in order to attack those who are resisting.
We honor the memory of Helin Bölek, who was murdered by the state of Turkey, after 288 days of hunger strike, fighting for the demands of the band Grup Yorum. We stand on the side of the hunger striker Ibrahim Göckçek and against the Turkish repressive mechanisms that are setting up his murder. We demand the immediate release of the 11 Turkish and Kurdish militants who have been arrested by the Greek State that is supporting the murderous politics of the Turkish services against the people of the struggle. We do not forget Mustafa Kocak, who died on April 24th, while he was in a hunger strike that started in the Turkish prisons and was continued after his release, demanding the abolition of the special courts for the political prisoners. Against state and capitalist brutality, the repressed and the exploited in every corner of this world, those who are struggling, give the battles that will create a society of equality, freedom and solidarity, until the songs of the struggle will bloom and tear down the bankrupt world of authority.
